Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East Second Street in Kanawha.

Lyle Emery Zeigler, the son of Elmer and Arlene (Severson) Zeigler, was born February 10, 1933 in rural Kanawha. He spent his childhood on farms in the Kanawha area before his family settled just outside of Kanawha. Lyle graduated from Kanawha High School in 1952. During his high school years, he proudly played catcher for the Kanawha Bulldogs and in their senior year they won the State Baseball Championship. This team will be inducted into the West Hancock Hall of Fame later this fall.

After high school, Lyle worked as a farm hand before being drafted into the United States Army in 1954. He was stationed overseas in France, serving two years before he was honorably discharged.

On March 18, 1956, Lyle was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Dawn Arends. To this union, four children were born, twins Dennis and Doug, Danny and Lyn. The couple raised their family outside of Kanawha where Lyle spent his years farming.

Lyle was a member of the American Legion Post #77, Kanawha Methodist Church and the Methodist Men group. He enjoyed his morning coffee group uptown with some lifelong high school friends. He would never miss his children’s events, grandchildren’s activities and loved when his family would come out to the farm. He will be missed for his positive outlook and quick wit.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 69 years Dawn Zeigler of Kanawha; sons Dennis (Barb) Zeigler of Newell and their children and grandchildren Aaron (Amy) Zeigler and Drake and Natalie, Melissa (Travis) French and Zoey and Max, Doug (Jan) Zeigler of Adel and their children and grandchildren Josh (Jessie) Zeigler and Jude, Jett and Jace, Justin (Lindsey) Zeigler and Jackson, Ryan and Jacob, and Danny (Pam) Zeigler of Urbandale and their children and grandchildren Jaime (Curtis) Froehlich and Conner and Aiden; daughter Lyn (Todd) Candor of Merrill and their children and grandchildren Tyler (Holly) Candor and Adley and Tate, Kendall (Kennedy) Candor and Emery and Beau, and Keaton (Annie) Candor; siblings Hazel Wood, Merlin (Marilyn) Zeigler, Mardell Meyer, David Zeigler and Joan (Charlie) Boeck; sisters-in-laws Joyce Zeigler and Mary Zeigler along with many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim Zeigler and Wayne Zeigler, sister-in-law Margaret Zeigler and brothers-in-law Eugene Wood and Gary Meyer.
