Obituary


Lyle Lawrence Lewellyn, age 90, of Clarion, passed away Tuesday , August 16, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Thursday August 18, 2005 at the United Methodist Church in Clarion with Pastor Donald Morrison officiating, with burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion

Visitation will be held two hours before the service from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the church. Lyle Lawrence Lewellyn son of Albert R. and Myrtle (Henry) Lewellyn was born July 16, 1915 on a farm north of Clarion. He attended 8 years in country school in Lake Township then graduated from Clarion High School in 1933

On September 8, 1940, Lyle was united in marriage to Mildred Jacobson at her parent’s home. The couple farmed for 2 years north of Clarion, 4 years north of Dows, and then moved to a farm north of Galt in 1947 where they farmed until 1978 when he retired. In 1982 the couple moved to Clarion.

Besides farming Lyle was a 4-H Leader for 4 years, County Committee man, township assessor in Lake and Lincoln Townships for 5 years, Wright County Extension Director for 4 years, ASCS Committee Man for 10 years, and Farm Bureau Vice President for 2 years. He was a member for the United Methodist Church in Clarion and served on several committees.

Lyle loved his family and they brought him great joy. He worked hard for their comfort and to be a good father. He was a friendly person and greeted everyone with a smile.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Clarion; 4 sons, Donald and his wife Marnie, Dale and his wife Elaine, Larry and his wife Sue, Richard and his wife Shari; one daughter, Janet and her husband Kevin Albrecht; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Isel King of Poplar Grove, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 infant brothers; 2 brothers, Donald and Vern; and 2 sisters, Mary and Ruth.
