Obituary


Manuel Rodriguez, 83, of Clarion passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion, with Father Jerry Blake officiating.

Manuel Rodriguez was born on March 4, 1936 to Ysidoro and Louisa Rodriguez in Clarion. Manuel enlisted in the United States Navy on August 3, 1954. After boot training in San Diego, he was assigned to the USS 1157 LST as a cook. His ship was in the supply division of the Navy in the Far East. After three years at sea, he was discharged on September 10, 1957. Manuel went to cosmetology school and was a hair stylist for 40 years in Des Moines. After he retired, Manuel moved to Kansas City, Missouri to be closer to his sister, Adella Rocha. He later decided to move back home to Clarion to be with his sister Esther Pohlman and brother Frank Rodriguez. Manuel loved to read the newspaper, golf, and watch sports, especially watching his great nephew Albert Pujols play baseball with the Los Angeles Angels. Manuel is survived by his brothers Frank Rodriguez of Clarion and Jesse Rodriguez of Sylmar, California; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; five sisters Esther Pohlman, Frances Rodriguez, Nellie Franke, Adella Rocha, Celia Pond; and three brothers Peter Rodriguez, Tony Rodriguez, and Alfonzo Rodriguez.
