Marcella J. (Alverson) Downing, 95, of Clarion, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at her home in Clarion. Memorial graveside services will be held on July 17, 2021 at 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Marcella was born July 13, 1925 in Rowan, Iowa. She married Cecil Downing in 1946 in Clarion. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1994. Marcella is survived by sons Willard of Oklahoma, Jim of Des Moines, Jerry of Clarion and daughters Sue of Melrose and Sherry of Clarion; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great, great-grandchildren; one brother, Oscar of Alamogordo, New Mexico; one sister, Gloria of Des Moines. Marcella was preceded by her parents, three sisters, one brother and one grandchild.
