Obituary


Margaret A. Mitchell, 80, of Britt, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2000 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Margaret, the daughter of Frank Charles and Rosa Augusta Bertha Frank Reither, was born November 12, 1919 in Terrill, Iowa.  She grew up in the Terrill/Spirit Lake area and attended Spirit Lake schools.

Margaret was united in marriage with Delbert Mitchell on March 25, 1939, in Spirit Lake, Iowa.  The couple made their home in various communities inIOwa and in Coleridge, Nebraska before moving to Britt in August of 1999.

Margaret enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing.  She made most of the clothing for her five children, including special shirts for Skip and Clarence.  She also made lap robes by the dozens and gave them to nursing homes in the communities where she resided.

Margaret was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in raising a Christian family.  She was a Sunday school teacher for over 28 years and participated in adult home Bible studies.  The couple was currently attending the Zion Church of the Nazarene in Britt.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Delbert; her five children, Kenneth and his wife, Fern of Coleridge, Nebraska, Jeannette and her husband, Robert McCann of Hoopetson, Illinois, Edgar and his wife, Carol of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ruth and her husband, David Sampson of Kansas City, Missouri, David and his wife, Olivia or Britt; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Everett and Charles and three sisters, Faith Kelso, Buelah Emerson and Maxine Thorn.
