Margaret Arndorfer

Margaret M. (O'Rourke) Arndorfer, 84, of Britt passed away August 24, 2026, at Hancock County Health Systems in Britt.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 139 3rd Street Southeast in Britt. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM prior to the services at the church on Saturday.

Margaret “Marge” Marie (O’Rourke) Arndorfer, the daughter of Cecil and Dora (Tech) O’Rourke, was born August 7, 1942, in Britt, Iowa. She grew up in Britt and graduated from Britt High School in 1961. After high school, Marge attended La’ James School of Cosmetology in Mason City and then worked at the Royal House of Beauty in Algona. On October 29, 1966, she was united in marriage to Wayne Arndorfer at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Britt and resided in Algona.

Following divorce in 1989, Marge eventually returned to Britt, where she cleaned many homes and businesses throughout the community and cared for several people performing check-ins, preparing meals, and helping with general household needs. Marge was a social person who always took the time to visit with others. You could often find her striking up a conversation with a stranger who would quickly become a friend. She also had a generous heart, especially when it came to gift giving and making special desserts and dishes. Marge loved a good sale and was always on the lookout for something special! She enjoyed many collectible and unique items, including crystal bowls, Boyds Bears, Santas, and other unique pieces! She took pride in the things she collected and enjoyed finding those special pieces that caught her eye.

Marge recently resided at Westview Care Center in Britt beginning in December 2024. She quickly became acquainted with fellow residents and the dedicated staff. She enjoyed watching her westerns and older murder mystery tv shows. She took much delight in the multiple birds and squirrels that visited her daily at the feeders outside her window!

Marge is survived by her children DeAnna (Jason) Tittel of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Denise Hovey of Algona, Darren (Teresa Kollasch) Arndorfer of Algona, and Doug (Kathy) Arndorfer of West Des Moines; grandchildren Taylor Williams, Kelsey Rash, Whitney, Aidan, and Ashlyn Hovey; Janelle and Bridget Arndorfer; Carter, Lilly, Marcus, and Emma Kollasch; sister-in-law Francis “Frannie” O'Rourke and special long-time friend Charles “Chuck” Moeckley along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John (Jack) O'Rourke of Morristown, MN and her infant brother James O'Rourke.

The family would like to thank Westview Care Center and its dedicated staff for the exceptional care, kindness, and meaningful conversations they shared, which made her stay a pleasant one.
