Margaret Francis Carolus was born on April 29, 1924, to Albert and Elsie (Rust) Carolus Jr at Klemme, Iowa. She attended country school and then graduated from Goodell High School in 1941. She worked on her parent’s farm until she married Morris (Chap) Nuehring on February 25, 1950, at the EUB church parsonage.  After their marriage the couple settled on the farm northeast of Kanawha where they raised their family and farmed the land. She was a housewife, cared for a large garden, raised chickens and helped Chap with farming. Raising her 3 sons and instilling in them the value of hard work kept her very busy.  She was also involved in the Neighborhood Birthday Club and the Silver Stars Card Club.  She always enjoyed playing board and card games with her grandchildren, especially when she was the winner.

In 2005 she moved in to The Summit House in Britt. She enjoyed all of the activities at the Summit House including playing cards, dominoes and the fellowship with her many friends. While at the Summit House she was known for her willingness to help others when needed.  We as a family were so thankful for all the friends she made there and for the staff that was so caring. We will always remember the joy she had in her years at the Summit House.

She was member of the Immanuel UCC in Klemme for many years where she was involved in the Women’s Fellowship. In later years she transferred membership to the United Methodist Church in Britt and was involved in the women’s group at that church.

She is survived by her three sons, Marvin (Phyllis) Nuehring of Kanawha Iowa; Milvern (Judy) Nuehring of Glen Ellyn, Illinois and Monte Nuehring of Denver, Iowa;  eight grandchildren, Angela (Josh) Nink, Lindsey Nuehring, James (Louisa) Nuehring, Megan (Reed) Pedersen, Jon Nuehring, Emmett Nuehring, Cayce Lanning and Jacob Lanning; and by 2 great grandchildren, Toben and Abigail Nink. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Betty Carolus, Mavis Eckes, Marie Ver Helst and Inez (Bruce) Dunbar along with a brother-in-law, Keith (Wilma) Nuehring, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Morris (Chap) in 2005, her brothers Leroy and Harlan Carolus in 2013, and many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
