Margaret Zeigler, 77, of Clarion, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021. A private graveside service for immediate family only will be held. Margaret Ann Hanson was born March 29, 1944 to Elmer and Dorothy (O'Brien) Hanson in Belmond, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Kanawha, graduated from Kanawha High School and attended junior college in Eagle Grove. Margaret was united in marriage to David Elmer Zeigler at Kanawha Lutheran Church on December 20, 1963. The couple made their home in Kanawha until moving to Clarence, Iowa in 1971. The family relocated to Clarion in 1992. Margaret was a lifelong Lutheran, having been baptized, confirmed and married at Kanawha Lutheran Church. She was most recently a member of First Lutheran Church in Clarion. Margaret worked at Farmers State Bank in Kanawha and at Remington's grocery store while the family lived in Clarence. Mostly, she was concerned with raising and caring for her family. Margaret was a longtime volunteer at the Iowa Specialty Hospital gift shop in Clarion. She was a member of the Goldfield Lake Lutheran Sew Ladies where she helped sew and distribute quilts for a number of charitable organizations and enjoyed helping pack Christmas baskets with the Holmes Christmas Club. Margaret was particularly passionate about blood donation. Margaret and David enjoyed spending time, both on day trips to visit family in Iowa and on longer trips to Oregon, where she was known to work alongside son Rob at the Oregon Rain Soap company. She loved spending time on the beach, listening to the ocean waves or watching the clouds and picking out shapes. She was also an avid reader and spent time working on jigsaw puzzles. Margaret was known as a do-er, if she saw something that needed to be done, she just did it, often before anyone else noticed it was necessary. Margaret is survived by her husband, David Zeigler of Clarion; children Rob (Johnna) Zeigler of Sherwood, Oregon and Nancy (Patrick Martin) Zeigler of Clarence; grandchildren Adam Jones of Cedar Rapids, Holli (fiancé Chandler Noe) Jones of Polk City, Kyle (Katie) McAnnis of Dundee, Oregon, Katie McAnnis of Lebanon, Oregon, Casey (Courtney) Hack of Solon, Iowa, Jamie (Rian) Martin of Clarence, Ryan (Amanda) Martin of Cedar Rapids, Jasan (Missy) Martin of Clarence and Kailee Martin of Muscatine, Iowa; sister Kathryn Leonard of Austin, Texas; sisters-in-law Hazel Wood of Garner, Mary Zeigler of Kanawha, Mardell Meyer of Belmond, Joyce Zeigler of Estherville, Joan (Charlie) Boeck of Denison; brothers-in-law Lyle (Dawn) Zeigler of Kanawha and Merlin (Marilyn) Zeigler of Gilbert; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Robert L. Hanson; and brothers-in-law James Zeigler, Wayne Zeigler, Eugene Wood and Gary Meyer.
