Marian A. Everett
Marian Alma Everett, 68, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 22, 1998, at her home in Newton, Iowa.
Marian, the daughter of Virgil and Sarah (Huling) Everett, was born March 15, 1930, in Britt, Iowa. She attended Britt High School, Britt Junior College and graduated from Westmar College in LeMars. She began her teaching career in a one-room school in rural Britt. Later she taught 2nd grade in Hayfield, LeMars, and at Aurora Heights Elementary School in Newton. She retired in 1990 after 43 years of teaching.
She was very active as a volunteer in various community organizations, a member of the United Methodist Women, the Skiff Hospital Auxiliary, the Newton Women’s Club, the Newton Retired Teacher’s Association, and the Newton United Methodist Church. She loved doing crafts and listening to country music. Marian has contributed financially to the education of a Red Bird Mission student. The support has continued through the recently completed 2nd year of college.
She is survived by her mother, Sarah Everett of Britt; two sisters: Alice and her husband, Bruce Schock of Arvada, CO; Virginia and her husband, Andrew Carlson of South Bend, WA; one brother Verle Everett of Britt, IA; one sister-in-law Beverly Everett of Wesley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Virgil in 1988, and brother, Thomas Everett in 1991.
