Obituary


Marie Elsie Eekhoff, 86, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 1992 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha, Iowa.

Marie, the daughter of Ole and Mary (Marks) Eenhuis, was born October 5, 1905 on a farm near Britt.  She received her education in the Erin Township country school.

On January 6, 1926, she was united in marriage with Edward Eekhoff at Kanawha.  The couple farmed near Britt, then moved to a farm near Kanawha, where they resided until retiring in 1966, when they moved into Kanwha.

She was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha.  She took great pride in her family and was sustained in her last years by her great love for her grandchildren.  Marie enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, who passed away May 27, 1982; twin daughters; a son-in-law, Donald; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include nine daughters: Viola Eliason of Kanawha, Iowa; Mrs. Norman (Edna) Peterson of Corwith, Iowa; Mrs. Donald (Mildred) Engh of Kanawah, Iowa; Mrs. Dorance (Janet) Baack of Clear Lake, Iowa; Mrs. Calvin (Ella) Josten of Ventrua, Iowa; Mrs. Raymond (Esther) Helps of Klemme, Iowa; Ida Eekhoff of Kanawha, Iowa; Mrs. Chris (Marie) Bunk of Renwick, Iowa; Mrs. Douglas (Lois) Ward of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. D.L. (Annie) Knoll of Kanawha, Iowa and Mrs. Clarence (Emma) Trulson of Fayetteville, Tennessee.
