Obituary


Marjorie Kathleen Rose, 80, of Cystal Lake, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Marjorie, the daughter of John and Frieda (Fisher) Boyken, was born July 26, 1924, in Woden.  She attended school in Woden and graduated from Woden High School.

On December 8, 1944, Marjorie was united in marriage with Walter T. Rose in San Francisco.  The couple moved their home near Buffalo Center where they farmed until moving to Crystal Lake in 1984.  Marge was employed at the Extension Service in Thompson and then at the bank in Thompson until she retired.

She was a member of the ELCA Lutheran Church and in recent years attended the First Lutheran Church in Britt.  She enjoyed her family, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, and traveling in her earlier years.  She enjoyed being with people and was a friend to everybody.

She is survived by her husband Walter; one son Tom and his wife, Becky, of Garner; grandchildren: Danny and Jenny; three sisters: Edith Teig of Buffalo Center, Joann Abbas and her husband, Teus, of Yuma, Arizona, Carol Koosmann and her husband, Konrad, of Jamestown, North Dakota; two sisters-in-law: Ardith Boyken of Algona and Karen Boyken of Algona and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Roger Boyken and John Robert Boyken.
