Obituary


Rhea Steenblock, 93, of Belmond, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond with Pastor Bob Medeiros officiating. Burial will be held at Amsterdam Cemetery in Goodell. Visitation will be Monday, November 29, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond. Marjorie Rhea was born on March 26, 1928 in Rowan, Iowa to Kenneth and Maude (Quigley) Fitz. She was baptized at Congregational Church on December 24, 1944. She graduated from Clarion High School with the class of 1946. On January 29, 1947, Rhea married Richard Steenblock at the Goodell Congregational Church and to this union, two children were born, Jerry and Beth. Rhea was a hard working farm wife and mother. Rhea loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and motorcycling. Rhea and Richard owned Yamaha and Honda motorcycles to venture with, but never a Harley. Both Richard and Rhea also enjoyed gambling in their retirement years together. Rhea and Richard enjoyed retirement from farming. Together they would enjoy winters spent in Weslaco, Texas and vacation in the summertime in Northern Minnesota where they had a cabin on Steamboat Lake. Rhea will be remembered for her loving and caring personality. She was also the best mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and mother-in-law, and blessed her family greatly. Rhea is survived by son Jerry (Margaret) Steenblock of Klemme; daughter Beth (Lyle) Bartell of Mason City; grandchildren Tina (Jay) DePuew of Belmond, Scot (Rhonda) Steenblock of Chatfield, Minnesota, Tracy (Scott) Albrecht of Mason City, Matt (Hillary) Bartell of Mason City; great-grandchildren Halie (Colton Kuhlers) DePuew, Brandon (Kassidy State) DePuew, Kara DePuew, Andrea (Taylor) Boettcher, Jessica (Chandler Brown) Steenblock, Hannah and Hattie Albrecht, and Gracie Bartell; great-great-grandchild Paisley Boettcher; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Rhea was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Richard; parents Kenneth and Maude Fitz; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Warren Potter; sister Coetta and niece Sue Potter Nail.
