Obituary


Marvin Klipping, 82, of Britt passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his home in Britt.

Memorial services for Marvin Klipping will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt, with Pastor William Rosin officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to services at the funeral home on Friday.

Marvin D. Klipping was born October 16, 1933 to Edna (Jacobson) and Leonard Klipping on a farm in Ellington Township in rural Hancock County. He was the 11th of 13 children. He attended country school and also Britt schools, he lived in the area and started working at a young age.

In 1954, Marvin began working at Jacob E. Deckers in Mason City, along with his brother Raymond.

On February 18, 1961, Marvin married Reta Rhoda in Elmore, Minnesota. They continued to live in Britt, he worked 35 years at Deckers, Armour Greyhound and finally ConAgra foods, interrupted by three years at Winnebago Industries while building the new plant.

In 1991, Marvin fell on the ice and broke his leg. From then on, he was unable to work. He worked for Doug Studer for 12 years after that.

Marvin was known to be a great coffee drinker and enjoyed working and cutting wood.

Marvin is survived by his wife Reta of Britt; children Karmen Crowley of Mason City and Scott (Katie) Klipping of Ankeny; grandchildren Colby Klipping of Clear Lake, Kennedy Crowley of Geneva, Illinois and Lukus and Ellie Klipping of Ankeny; sister Joanne (Melvin) Symes of Mason City; brothers-in-law Elton (Sharon) Rhoda of Elmore, Minnesota and Ramon (Julie) Rhoda of Blue Earth, Minnesota; along with many nieces and nephews.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
