Marvin ‘Pete’ Cook, 86, of Britt passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

As his final act of love and generosity, Pete chose to be an anatomical donor and donated his body to the University of Iowa for medical research.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place Saturday, December 26, 2015, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Evangelical Free Church, 810 2nd Avenue Northwest in Britt.

Pete was united in marriage to Janice Scheibel on October 11, 1958 at the Britt Evangelical Free Church. To this union, four children were born.

In the mornings, you could find Pete at Mary Jo’s drinking coffee with the guys trying to solve the world's problems. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, often spoiling them with his special pancakes. Pete loved to watch all Britt/West Hancock sports especially when his children, nephews and grandchildren participated. He also enjoyed the many years he spent helping with the football chain gang.

He was a member of the Britt American Legion and past member of the Lion’s Club.

Pete is survived by his wife of 57 years Janice; children Connie (Paul) Swanson of Britt and their children Sarah, Bret, and Ryan; Ronald (Michelle) Cook of Story City and their children Jacob, Seth, and Abby; Ricky (Kristin) Cook of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and their children Kyle, Katelyn, and Cassandra; and David (Rebecca) Cook of Pella and their children Grant, Spencer, and Avery.
