Obituary


Marvin William Fink, 75, of Latimer passed away Sunday, June 11, 2006 at his home. Marvin Fink was born April 16, 1931 in rural Latimer to C.W. “Bill” and Elizabeth Schermer Fink. Marvin has lived on the family farm since the age of 6 years old. He graduated from Franklin County Consolidated High School in 1949. Marvin was united in marriage to Darlene June Etchen September 22, 1956 in Klemme, Iowa Darlene passed away June 25, 2001. He then married to Betty Behn August 16, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton. Farming was Marvin’s life; during his early years on the farm he raised cattle, chickens, and hogs. Marvin also served in the Iowa National Guard for eight years attaining the rank of Sergeant. He enjoyed going to Arizona in the winters, reading farm and health magazines, and was a very accomplished welder. Marvin was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help people whether they were friends or strangers. Marvin is survived by his wife, Betty Fink of Latimer; two daughters Vickie Fink of Phoenix Arizona, Linda and husband Marc Hendel of West Des Moines; two grandchildren Ben and Rachel Hendel of West Des Moines; two sisters Elwilda “El” Etchen and husband Carroll of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Arnelda Schramm and husband Win of Battle Creek, Iowa; and a brother Verald Fink and wife Eleanor of Coulter, Iowa. He is also survived by two step-children, Scott Seeger and wife Linda of Milford, Iowa and Sandie Seeger of St. Joseph, Missouri; and two step-grandchildren Kayla and Anna Seeger. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene, and a granddaughter Emily Hendel.
