Obituary


Mary Ann Conaway, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 1995 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.

Mary, the daughter of Thor and Evelyn (Haavig) Asheim, was born on October 9, 1942 in Forest City, Iowa.  She attended school in Forest City and graduated in 1960.  She then attended Waldorf College. Mary worked at Massey Fergusen Company of Mason City as a secretary until 1964.

On May 23, 1964 she was united in marriage with Theodore Conaway at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City.  The couple farmed southwest of Britt for 31 years.  For the past ten years she was employed with The Flower Cart in Britt as a secretary.  Her life centered around her family.  She loved collecting Christmas ornaments, gardening and tending to her many flower beds.  She also liked having friends in for coffee and traveling to many different states.  Mary was a member of the First Lutheran Church where she served as president of the ALCW Women's Associtation, was also a deacon on the church board and had been a Bible School teacher.

Mary is survived by her husband, Ted; her children: Mark of Britt and Christie of Ankeny; one sister, Irene Lande and her husband, Darrel of Rochester, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
