Obituary


Mary Ann Perkins, 92, of Corwith, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 21, 2005, at the Kanawha Community Home.

Mary, the daughter of Daniel Vorris and Jesse Katherine (Faust) Pigman, was born January 5, 1913, near Duncombe, Iowa.  She grew up on a farm in the Britt area and attended Hayfield country schools.

On December 7, 1929, Mary was united in marriage with Raymond Perkins in Britt.  To this union 13 children were born.  The couple made their home in various communities in Iowa before settling in Corwith in 1953.  Following the death of her husband Raymond in 1967, Mary continued to reside in Corwith until 1988 when she moved to an apartment in Belmond.  She has been resident of the Kanawha Community Home since 1997.

Mary took great pride in working for many years in the Corwith Wesley Schools as a cook.  She loved to garden, quilt and crochet.  She will be especially remembered for her beautiful canned goods, fresh baked breads and pies and special candies at Christmas time.

Mary was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Corwith and the American Legion.

Mary is survived by ten children: June Okland and special friend Emory of California, Alice Tabb of Colorado, Joan Anderson of Missouri, Marvin Perkins and his wife Carol of Iowa, Ramona Groebner and her husband Don of Minnesota, Patricia Penning and special friend Leslie of Iowa, Allen Perkins of Arizona, Robert Perkins and his wife Marilyn of Iowa, Karen Reher and her husband Richard of Michigan, Kathleen Dorr of Iowa; step-daughter Marie Perkins of Iowa; countless grandchildren, great-grandchild, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, six brothers, husband Raymond in 1967, three sons, Delbert, Jerry, and Ronald, and one grandson Brian Perkins.
