Obituary


Mary Louise (Hilbert) Robles, 68, of Glendale, California, passed away on January 26th, 2014 at Elms Convalescent Center, Glendale.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 31st, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wesley, Iowa.

Mary, the daughter of Norbert and Felice (Eisenbacher) Hilbert, was born on February 26, 1945 in Wesley, Iowa.

She attended St. Joseph’s grade school in Wesley and graduated from Garrigan Catholic High School in 1963 in Algona.

After graduation Mary moved to Denver, Colorado and worked for a bank.  In 1967, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she also was employed at a bank.  In 1968 she moved to California and worked for Union Oil Company where she met Earl.

On June 10th, 1972 she married Earl Robles in Wesley and returned to Glendale, California where they made their home.  They had one daughter, Dawn Marie, the light of their lives.  They later separated.

Mary was an active member of Incarnation Catholic Church, Glendale, California and her Bible study group.  She enjoyed music, shopping, traveling, especially her trips home to Iowa, and collecting cows.

Mary is survived by her sisters, Audrey Kay Hilbert of Britt, Becky (Wayne) Kudej of Britt, Margie (Tom) McCleish of Bancroft, Connie (Dan) Dittrich of Algona; two brothers, Dr. David (Kathy) Hilbert of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Gary (Jane) Hilbert of Britt; sister in law Jean (Larry) Hilbert of Wesley, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter Dawn in May 2013, her parents, Felice and Norbert, two sisters, Joan and Judy, and one brother Larry.
