Obituary
Matilda Marie Huling, 80, passed away Friday, march 26, 1993 at the Kanawha Community Hospital in Kanawha, Iowa.
Matilda, the daughter of Mons A. and Minnie (Olson) Oustad, was raised in a Norwegian family home, on a farm in the Kanawha area. She attended the Lutheran Church there while growing up. Her father came over from Norway and her mother was born in this country, but was also Norwegian. After graduating from high school, Matilda attended and graduated from nursing school and became a Registered Nurse. She worked for some time at the Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
She was united in marriage with Claude Huling in 1948. The couple farmed south of Britt, where Matilda enjoyed keeping house and cooking. The couple joined the First Lutheran Church in Britt around 1960. Matilda served her church faithfully while her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Claude in 1968.
She is survived by her son, Paul of Garner, Iowa; three sisters-in-law: Sarah Everett, Marian Oustad and Mildred Oustad; one brother-in-law, Fern Huling; many nieces and nephews.
