Maurice E. Buns, 92, of Woden, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Hancock County Health Systems in Britt. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 302 2nd Street in Woden, with Pastor John Heille officiating. Burial will be in Bingham Township Cemetery in Woden. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Maurice Eugene, son of Antony and Verna (Greenfield) Buns, was born on November 28, 1932, in Britt. He grew up on various family farms in the Woden area. Maurice attended country school before graduating from Woden High School in 1950. Maurice entered the service of his country by joining the United States Army 1953. Following his honorable discharge, Maurice joined the farming operation and continued farming into his 80s. On February 22, 1958, Maurice was united in marriage to Nancy Rose at the Methodist parsonage in Crystal Lake. Together they raised their three children on the family farm near Woden. Over the years, Maurice enjoyed golfing and flying his plane. He enjoyed his daily coffee and cards up town. Nancy and Maurice enjoyed dancing at Duncan Hall and the Surf, traveling with Heidi and taking trips down south. Maurice served on the Bingham Township Trustees and on the Woden-Crystal Lake school board. Maurice is survived by his children Paul Buns of Woden, Jill (Dan) Schultz of Runnells and Heidi Buns of Algona; grandchildren Andrew (Cate) Schultz and their daughter Noelle, Danielle Buns, Paige Buns, and Kylie (Dylan Lappe) Buns and their son Henry and daughter Lydia; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy in 2023; his parents; brother Kenneth Buns, James Buns, Tony Buns, and a baby brother in infancy.
