Maurice "Smokey" G. Olson, 71, passed away Monday, March 18, 1991 at the Good
Samaritan Nursing Home in Algona, Iowa.
Maurice, the son of Gerhard and Anna (Fosen) Olson was born January 16, 1920 at
Britt, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and was raised
and received his education in the Britt and Corwith areas. He served with the
United States Army from 1941 to 1946 in England, France and Germany.
On January 16, 1950 he was united in marriage with Anna Marie Prull at the First
Lutheran Church in Britt. Maurice had formerly worked as a farmhand for his
brother-in-law, Weston Gault and also on a turkey farm for Norman Madson. He
later worked at the Corwith Co-Op Community Elevator until his retirement in
1985.
Maurice was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Britt and he served on the
church council. He was active in the church until the time of his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronald L. Olson; one sister,
Mrs. Weston (Aletha) Gault; two brothers: Lynn and Clair Olson.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Marie Olson of Britt, Iowa; a daughter, Vicki
Kahlstorf and her husband, Gary of Britt; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Cheryl PeCoy
of Algona, Iowa; three grandchildren: Jason and Kelle Kahlstorf of Britt, Iowa
and Casey Lee Olson of Algona, Iowa; a sister, Opal Olson of Agency, Iowa; a
brother, Jay Olson and his wife, Yvonne of Ottumwa, Iowa; two sister-in-laws:
Mrs. Marguerite Olson of Corwith, Iowa and Mrs. Glenice Olson of Waterloo, Iowa;
several nieces and nephews and many friends.
