Obituary

Maxine Mae (Young) Bailey, age 91 of Clarion, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Clarion Wellness and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services for Maxine Bailey will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at First Lutheran Church, 420 First Street Northwest in Clarion, with Pastor Woodley officiating. Burial will be held at Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery in Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Maxine Mae Young was born on May 16, 1928 in Fenton, Iowa to Elmer and Grace Wirtz Young. The family moved to Mason City and she grew up, went to school, and graduated a Mohawk in 1946. July 4, 1944, she met Ray Bailey at Riverside Skating Rink. She married the love of her life on February 27, 1947. To this union five children were born into a house of love. Maxine loved 'her Ray', her children, and pretty much everyone she ever met. Maxine was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church in Clarion. She loved her job at the Clarion Hospital as office manager. She loved Lake Cornelia. Maxine and Ray had the Cornelia Bait for years before Ray's passing. Maxine is survived by her children Cinda (Lenny) Zacks, Raynee (Larry) DeLano, Lorrie (Mark) Howell, Dan (Terri) Bailey, and Shelly Swanson; her brothers-in-law Mert (Francine) Bailey and Leroy Baker; her sisters-in-law JoAnn Bailey and Dorothy Bailey; her grandchildren Julie (Norb) Strasser, Chris (Cat) Srigley, Todd Sheller, Rachel Nowling, Sara (Troy) Middleton, Robert Busick, Michael (Jessica) Busick, Jeremy Bailey, Cassie (Parker) Trent, Dezi (Myles) McMillen, Joseph (Linsey) Bailey; her great-grandchildren Christopher, James (Lauren) Jason (Samantha) and Cody (Ashley) Grill, Katana and CJ Srigley, MaKenna Boles, Michael and Matthew Sheller, Maya and Jade LaRue, Lane Busick, Michael, Megan, Ivy, Lilly, and Ally Busick, Peyton, Sawyer, and Gunnar Trent, Maverick McMillen, and Grace Bailey; and one great-great grandson Orion. Greeting her in heaven is her husband Ray; daughter Julie; parents Elmer and Grace and Fitch and Edna; brothers Howard, Doug, Don, Jerry, Leonard, and Bob; and sisters Ruth, Rovyne, Marge, Moni, Pat, and Janet.
