Obituary
Melvin Dale Smith, 69, passed away Friday, July 19, 1991 at the Titonka Care Center in Titonka, Iowa.
Melvin, the son of William and Mabel (Fitzgerald) Smith was born October 26, 1921 at Britt, Iowa. He received his education in the Britt School and graduated in 1940. He farmed until he entered the United States Air Force serving during World War II. After his discharge he returned to farming.
Melvin was united in marriage with Marcella Terbeek on June 20, 1946. He farmed until 1970. He then was employed with Winnebago Industries until 1986.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt, a life member of the V.F.W. Post #4370 and also a member of the Britt American Legion Post #315. He enjoyed his family, friends, farming and helping others.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant child.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Smith and his wife, Paula of Santee, California; a daughter, Sandra kay Lester and her husband, Kent of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a sister, Mavis Betten and her husband, John of Kanawha, Iowa; three grandchildren; and a special friend, Adala Bailey of Britt, Iowa.
