Melvin L. Langfitt, Sr.

Melvin L. Langfitt Sr., 79, of Fairfield, Virginia and formerly of Clarion, died Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Augusta Health.

Memorial graveside services for Melvin will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.

Melvin Lavern Langfitt Sr., the son of Lloyd and Hazel Foltz Langfitt, was born on July 9, 1940, in Grand Junction, Iowa. He attended school in Grand Junction and graduated with the class of 1959.

Mel served in the United States Navy.

On December 17, 1966 Melvin was united in marriage to Patricia Groen in Burt. From this union 5 children were born. Melvin and Patricia lived in Goldfield, Iowa for many years before moving to Clarion, Iowa. Patricia died in 2001.

Mel drove semi for Ennis Corp. while he lived in Clarion.

Mel married Donna Grylls in 2003 and made their home in Clarion for a short time before moving to Fairfield, VA.

Prior to his passing, Mel enjoyed time with family, watching westerns and relaxing with a cold one.

He was preceded in death by Patricia, his parents Lloyd and Hazel, brother Keith, nephew and several sisters in law and brothers in law.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Faye Langfitt; children Mitch (Leann) Langfitt, Michelle (Mike) Dehart, Dana (Kelly) Langfitt, Dawn (Henry) Cruz, and J.R. (Stacy) Langfitt; step-daughter Angela Swecker and step-son Robert Breeden; 13 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, as well as Ewing Funeral Home.
