Michael Lee Johnson

Michael Johnson, 61, of Kanawha passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at his home in Kanawha.

A time of remembrance for Mike Johnson will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 4:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.

Michael was born September 24, 1957 in Britt to Ray and Mary Lou Johnson and was promptly paraded around the block as the last of four sons.  Along with his three older brothers (Larry, Dennis and Randy) Mike enjoyed many adventures.

After graduating from Woden-Crystal Lake High School in 1975, Mike met Denise (Thome). They married in 1978.  One year later they welcomed Joshua Lee, two more boys followed, Brandon Leon and Daniel Ray.  The couple later divorced.

Mike was employed by Kiefer Built, Inc. from 1979 until health issues brought about his early retirement in 2009.

Beginning in his early teens, Mike developed a lifelong affinity and love of rock music.  As a talented bassist and vocalist he performed live in several local bands.  As a fan he took in many concerts and instilled a love of and appreciation for music in his three sons.

Mike is survived by his ex-spouse and friend Denise; sons Joshua (Nicole), Brandon (Billie), and Daniel (Angel); grandchildren Arayana, Toni, Cael and Maverik; brothers Larry and Dennis (Rhonda); several well-loved nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Stella.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Mary Lou, his brother Randy, ex-brother-in-law Bruce and nephew Jason.
