Obituary
Mildred Elizabeth Wellik, 91, passed away Monday, May 11, 1998 at the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa.
Mildred, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Kudej) Kopacek, was born August 27, 1906, at Britt. She received her education in the rural schools of Liberty Township.
On February 8, 1927, she was united in marriage to Joseph W. Wellik at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan, Iowa. The couple lived in the rural Britt and Duncan area where they farmed. After the death of her husband in 1960, she moved into Britt. Since December of 1991, she has resided at the Westview Care Center.
Her life centered around her church, family, friends, flowers and garden. She is a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt and former member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Silver Star-Senior Citizen Club (she was president and held other offices).
She is survived by her seven children: Monica Paca and her husband, Leonard of Garner, Elmer Wellik and his wife, Debra of Santa Ana, CA, Joseph Wellik and his wife, Gloria of Britt, Vivian Pritchard and her husband, William of Britt, Mildred Horstman and her husband, Paul of Britt, Marvin Wellik and his wife Kay of Mesa, AZ, Jerry Wellik and his wife, Kathy of Clearwater, MN; thirty-four grandchildren, fifty-four great-grandchildren; five sisters: Lilliam Chizek of Britt, Agnes Rayhons of Garner, Blanche Paca of Britt, Vivian Formanek of Britt, Marie Brcka and her husband, George of Britt; one brother Vincent Kopacek and his wife, Rose of Britt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters Helen & Evelyn, three brothers: Arnold, Francis & Raymond and one great-grandchild.
