Milfred John Hilbert, 80, passed away Saturday, June 26, 1999, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa. Milferd, the son of Peter and Maggie (Arend) Hilbert, was born on the family farm near Wesley, on March 16, 1919.  He attended country school in the Wesley area.  Milfred was united in marriage with Verna Lenertz on June 28, 1949 in Algona.  Milferd farmed for a number of years and also worked for Hemingston.  He later worked for Martin Manufacturing in Britt.  The couple moved to their present home in Britt in 1971. Milferd was a man who loved his flowers and garden and he could fix anything. He is survived by his wife Verna; and their children, Donald Hilbert and his wife, Cheryl of Britt and their children Matt, Nick, Jason, and Jessica; Michael Hilbert of Britt; Nancy Schaefer and her husband, Dennis of Garner and their children, David and Kristina; Sharon Aguilar and her husband, Santiago of Britt and their children, Jonathan and Alicia; two sisters Esther Hilbert and Delores Hilbert of Algona. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Florence Hildman, Dorothy Hilbert, Myrtle Hilbert and one brother, Arnold Hilbert.
