Milo "Dean" Pals, 79, of Belmond, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the
Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.
Funeral services for Milo "Dean" Pals will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at
6:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond with Mike Ewing
as officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 10:00
AM in the Belmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Ewing
Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond.
Milo "Dean" Pals, the son of Fred and Phyllis (Packard) Pals, was born on
February 11, 1942 in Belmond, Iowa. Dean grew up in Belmond and graduated from
Belmond High School in 1960.
During and after high school, Dean worked at the family business P&G
Supermarket. He owned and operated the grocery store for many years being an
expert in the produce section. He retired from the store a few years before it
closed.
Dean married Miriam Kalkwarf in October of 1959, to this union two children were
born, Dighton and Deanna. The couple later divorced.
In his free time, Dean loved to play golf, cheer on the Iowa State Cyclones at
Jack Trice Stadium, listen to Buddy Holly music and attend the Winter Dance
Party. He also enjoyed traveling making trips to Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean
and different cruises.
He is survived by his children Dighton (Krista) Pals of Belmond and Deanna
(Dwight) Koenen of Latimer; grandchildren Julia Pals (Jeff Meints) and her
children Aubrey and Ryleigh Eckhoff, Alyssa Pals and her daughter Kenzie Snider,
Lindsay (Brett) Harrison and their children Noah, Lauren, Brooklyn, Isaac and
Macy Harrison, Shaun (Heather) Koenen and their son Axle Koenen; special friend
Lois Jenison; brother-in-law Frank Quigley along with nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Brianne Pals, and sister
Vicki Quigley.
Memorials may be made to the Belmond Library, Belmond School or the Belmond Iowa
Specialty Hospital.
