Obituary


Milton F. "Billy" Smith passed away Monday, October 30, 2000 in the Hospice Center at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Billy was born September 13, 1935 in Britt, Iowa, the oldest of eight children Milton L. and Fern F. (Charbonneaux) Smith.  He attended Britt Grade and Jr. High Schools.

At age 15, Billy was diagnosed with cancer.  He was one of Iowa City's first radiation patients.  In the mid 70's Billy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, causing him to enter Duncan Heights.  In 1984, Billy entered Westview Care Center.

Billy was employed for many years at Britt Tech Corporation, in Britt and later at the Garner Work Center, in Garner.

Billy loved life and never had anything bad to say about anyone.  He will be remembered fro the hot pads he made and the cards he sold at local craft shows.

He is survived by six sisters and one brother: Patricia Van Gorp and husband, Virgil of Marshalltown, Barbara Nonnweiler and husband, Robert of Garner, Jean Perkins and husband, Jerry of Britt, Judy Sonius and husband, John of Britt, Nancy Michel and husband, Dave of Britt, David Smith and his wife, Sandi of Britt, Sue Steinlicht of Britt and numerous and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews, and one niece.
