Misty Lynn Abbas

Misty L. Abbas, 42, of Britt passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 in Britt.

Funeral services for Misty Abbas will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church, 70 5th Avenue Northwest, in Britt with Rev. Paul Evans officiating.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West, in Britt and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Misty Lynn Abbas, daughter of Larry and Cindy (Meyer) VanDusseldorp, was born on October 9, 1970 in Britt.  She attended school in Britt graduating in 1989.

In 1987 Misty was united in marriage to Alan Harms.  This union was blessed with two sons, Adam and Trevor.  Alan passed away in 1994.

In 1991 Misty went to NIACC and received her LPN degree and worked in various places in the area.  In June of 1999 Misty married Doug Abbas.  The couple made their home in Britt.

Misty loved running around in her pajamas and watching TV.  She liked spending time with her beloved pets:  her dog Hunter and her cat Baby.  Misty especially enjoyed going to family sporting events and spending quality time with her grandchildren, the sunshine of her life.

Misty is survived by her husband Doug of Britt; 2 sons: Adam Harms and Trevor Harms (fiancée Randi Lynn) all of Britt; 2 grandsons: Hunter Harms and Owen (Riekens) Harms; father Larry VanDusseldorp (fiancée Irene Philips) of Britt; sister Tammy (Alan) Abbas of Garner; brother Scott (Angie) VanDusseldorp of Garner; brother-in-law Brent (Brenda) Harms and their children Ty and Macey; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; mother Cindy VanDusseldorp on October 26, 2010; first husband Alan Harms; and father-in-law Martin Harms.
