Obituary
Mona McNamara, age 91, of Belmond, passed away Saturday September 26, 2015 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mona McNamara will be held at 9:30 A.M. Friday October 2, 2015 at the St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. Rev. Jerry Blake will officiate. Burial will take place in the St Francis Cemetery near Belmond. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Belmond Honor Guard.
Mona, the only child of Howard and Jennie (Hastings) Schooley, was born January 14, 1924 in Edenton, Ohio. She lived in Ohio until graduation from High School. Mona attended Wayne University in Michigan prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy WAVES in 1944.
On January 19, 1945, she was united into marriage to Robert E. McNamara in Port Blakely, WA. Mona and Bob spent most of their married life was spent in New Jersey where they both were employed by the Federal Aviation Agency. After retirement, they moved to the McNamara family farm south of Belmond. Mona and Bob shared a passion for traveling, square dancing and being involved in church activities. Her family was her greatest joy.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Marilyn Carlson, Richard McNamara, Patrick McNamara, Michael McNamara all of New Jersey, six grandchildren: Michelle, Eric Collette, Jessica, Patrick II and Kristina; nine great-grandchildren: Brandon, Jake, Tiffanie, Amanda, Caleb, Ruth, David, Torrin and Jennifer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob this past May 2015, and granddaughter, Jennifer.
