Myrtle Kay Aldrich, the daughter of George and Florence (Woodrow) Mossman, was born July 15, 1939 in rural Clarion.

Kay graduated from Rowan High School in 1957, where she met her high school sweetheart Donald Aldrich. They couple married on July 7, 1957. Kay and Don have lived on the same farm ever since.

Kay worked as waitress at the Rowan Café, secretary for Amaco and Ferrellgas and helped Don on the farm. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, making homemade bread and collecting owls. She loved listening to the birds, being in her garden, and cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at different sporting events. Kay, herself, was the shuffleboard champion in Texas where they have wintered for the past 12 years.

The family will remember the annual summer trips where they enjoyed camping, horseback riding and fishing (unless she wasn’t the one catching the fish).

Kay was sassy but sweet, always willing to help anyone but not afraid to tell you I told you not to do it that way and the world’s best backseat driver.

Kay is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Aldrich; her daughters Wanda Babe of Perry and her daughter Jessica (Tyler) Randall and children Roy and Dean, Diane (Ken) Little of Belmond and their children Kaysie (Kenny) King and son Kaleb and Eric (Kelsey) Williams and children Rooney and Finch and Sandy (Joe) Johnson of Mason City and their children Taylor Johnson and daughter Alba, Haylee (Nick) Johnson and daughter Brynlee and Hana (Bruce) Rolland and daughter Quinn; sister Gladys (Jim) Arndorfer; brother George Mossman, Jr; along with nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Jason Beaver.
