Nellie Ausborn, 91, of Garner, formerly of Belmond, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at Concord Care Center in Garner. Funeral services for Nellie Ausborn will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond with Pastor Scott Kozisek officiating. Burial will take place at Belmond Cemetery. Visitation for Nellie Ausborn will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at Ewing Funeral Home on Tuesday. Nellie was born to Lloyd and Irma Sherwood on January 16, 1928 in Mason City. Nellie attended schools in Mason City, but graduated from Klemme in 1946. After graduation, she enjoyed her job as a phone operator. On August 14, 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Ervin Ausborn. They made their home east of Klemme. They had three children: Lavonne, Terry, and Linda. Nellie loved to knit, and made afghans for all her kids. After her husband, Ervin, retired from farming, they moved to Belmond. There, Nellie worked as a dietary aid for Belmond Hospital. She is survived by daughter Lavonne (Dennis) Prescott, son Terry (Sue) Ausborn, daughter Linda Lillebo; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Bob (Mary) Ausborn; sister-in-law Gloria Sherwood; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Ervin; her parents; and one grandson.
