Nita Arlene Peterson, 83, passed away Thursday, May 19, 1999, at Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa. Nita, the daughter of Mike and Sadie (Christiansen) Nelson, was born June 4, 1915 at Titonka, Iowa.  Nita graduated from Crystal Lake High School, and later worked for Nelsen Grocery in Crystal Lake. Nita was united in marriage with Ernest Peterson on December 11, 1938 in Crystal Lake.  The couple farmed in the Crystal Lake area and later moved to a farm in the Buffalo Center area.  Mr. and Mrs. Peterson moved to Stratford, WI in 1958, and moved back to Crystal Lake in 1978. In 1985, they moved into Britt.  The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in December 11, 1993.  Mr. Peterson passed away December 22, 1993. Nita is survived by son, Larry Peterson and his wife, Kathy of Forest city, Iowa; daughter Beverly Borg of Fairbault, Minnesota; son Gary Peterson of Forest City, Iowa; son Jerry Peterson and his wife, Julie of Forest City; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters Elsie Graney of Mason City, Iowa and Alyce Chally of Algona, Iowa and brother, Bill and his wife, Gwendolyn of Algona, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest, two sisters and one grandson.
