Norma Jergenson, 72, of Clarion passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Wright
Medical Center in Clarion.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at
Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion.
Private family services will be held for Norma Jergenson.
Norma Ellen Jergenson was born November 16, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa to Morris
and Lola (Summers) Sorenson. The family later moved to Ohio, then returned to
Humboldt, where Norma attended school. Norma helped raise her four siblings and
later attended beauty school.
Norma was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Jergenson in September of 1958 in
Goldfield. To this marriage, two children, Jeff and Robbin were born. The
family lived in Goldfield and later moved to Clarion. Norma worked as a
waitress for many years and was also employed at Don's Laundry and for Dr.
Gitz. For the past 30 years she was a homemaker, housewife, and special
grandma.
Norma loved to golf, fish, and canned vegetables every year. She also loved to
cook and bake especially special pies for her grandchildren and her famous fried
chicken. Spending time with her grandchildren was especially important to
Norma.
Norma was a member of First Lutheran Church in Clarion.
Norma is survived by her husband, Dick Jergenson, of Clarion; son Jeff (Karrie)
Jergenson of Clarion; daughter Robbin (Jeff) Weier of Denison; six
grandchildren, Tonya (Troy) Schermer, Travis Weier, Nicholas Weier, Danie
Jergenson, Matthew Weier and Samie Jergenson; four great-grandchildren, Jacob,
Evelyn, Kalli Jo, and Lacey; brother Bud (Sandy) Sorenson of Humboldt; sisters
Gladys "Jeanie" Olson of Clarion and Melody (Ken) Wagner of Seattle, Washington;
special family friend Jerry Downing, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family
members and friends.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Janet Thorn.
