Obituary

Norman Eugene Peterson, 69, passed away Thursday, September 3, 1998, at Clarion Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion, Iowa.

Norman, the son of Lauretz and Laura (Christie) Peterson, was born July 30, 1929 near Goodell, Iowa.  He grew up in the Goodell area, attended country school and graduated from Goodell High School in 1947.  He was the only student in his class, thus graduated as the Valedictorian.  After graduation he farmed with his father and brother-in-law. Norman and Edna E. Eekhoff were united in marriage May 5, 1959 at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Parsonage.  The couple made their home near Meservey where they farmed for three years.  Norman was active in the Army from 195-1955, serving in Missouri and Colorado.  After returning from duty they farmed south of Corwith, retiring in 1990.

Caring for animals and being a great outdoors man was Norman's specialty.  He was licensed by the DNR to raise ducks, geese and waterfowl.  His backyard was full of bird feeders and squirrel feeders.  Many hours were spent in his flower garden.  Norman was a member of the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church, served on the ASCS Board and the K & H Co-op oil Board.

The greatest pride of Norman's life were his two granddaughters, son and daughter-in-law.

Norman is survived by his wife, Edna, one son Todd and his wife, Laura Peterson and granddaughters Sydney and Emma of Hoffman Estastes, IL; three sisters: Barbara Peterson of Belmond, IA, Elaine Woiwod and her husband Ernest of Garner, IA, Lula Bell and her husband Frederick of Klemme, IA; two brothers: John Peterson and his wife, Mavis of Goodell, IA; Christie Peterson and his wife, Viola of Goodell, IA; one brother-in-law: Roland Peterson of Belmond, IA; one sister-in-law; Della Peterson of Belmond, IA; and numerous and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.
