Ole C. Smidt, 88, passed away Friday, April 24, 1992 at the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa. Ole, the son of Henry and Emily (Heerkes) Smidt, was born September 9, 1903 in Hancock County.  He attended the rural schools in Hancock County. On August 20, 1937, he was united in marriage with Evelyn Charbonneaux at Britt.  The couple made their home in the rural Britt and Garner area.  He farmed until 1960, at which time he moved to Britt.  Ole was employed for several years for Hancock County, as a weed commissioner. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Smidt of Britt, Iowa; one daughter, Emily Redmond of Charles City, Iowa; two sons: Ole Smidt, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Britt, Iowa; Allen Smidt and his wife, Susan of Tilden, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; five sisters: Anna Cook of Illinois, Emily Block, Helen Smidt, Janelle Goruley, all of Mason City, Iowa, Geraldine Pitkin of Clear Lake, Iowa; two brothers: Ben and George Smidt, both of Mason City, Iowa. Ole was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
