Obituary


Oliver M. Huntley, 98, Belmond, passed away October 17, 2015 at Iowa Specialty Hospital-Belmond.

A private family gathering was held for “Ollie” and he was laid to rest in the Belmond Cemetery with Pastor David De-Kuiper of Immanuel Reformed Church officiating and military rites provided by the Belmond Honor Guard.

Oliver “Ollie” was born October 5, 1917 to Edward and Maebelle Overbaugh Huntley in Renwick. Ollie married Mary Wagoner on January 1, 1940. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. Ollie worked on the family farm until 1965 when they moved to Clarion. He was employed with Adams Farm Equipment and then with Ennis Truck Line until he retired.

Ollie enjoyed his retirement in Mesa, AZ with his second wife, Marcy, until her death. He then returned to Belmond to be close to family. Ollie’s passion was to paint pictures to share with his friends and family.

Ollie is survived by his children Cecile (Richard) Peddicord of Belmond, Shelley (Myron) Pohlman of Clarion, Michael (Bonnie) Huntley of Carefree, AZ, and Douglas (Lori) Huntley of Henderson, NV; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his second wife; brothers Burton, Marion, John and Richard; sisters Becky and Louise; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
