Obituary


Ona M. Nessa, 96, of Britt formerly of Forest City, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Ona, the daughter of Frank A. and Julie (Andreason) Prelip, was born January 18, 1911 in Kanawha.  She was raised in the Kanawha area where she attended Kanawha Public School.  Ona helped out at home by helping to care for her eleven brothers and sisters.

On November 15, 1930 Ona married Herbert T. Nessa.  The couple made their home in Forest City where Ona lived for over 60 years.  She has been a resident of Britt for 9 years.

Ona worked at the produce in Forest City until it was closed.  She was later employed as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Home in Forest City until she was 75 years old.  Ona really enjoyed taking care of the residents and spending time with them.  She and Herb were involved with the Forest City volunteer fire department and especially enjoyed attending their banquet every year.  Ona was even looking forward to attending this year's banquet had she been able.

She loved to garden and was very proud of her flowers, she also enjoyed quilting and playing cards with the Silver Stars card club.  She always kept herself and her family members busy and involved.

She was a current member of First Lutheran Church in Britt and a previous member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Britt and a previous member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Rebekah's in Forest City.

She is survived by her children: Pauline Freeseman of Britt, Robert C. Nessa and wife Bonita of Tehachapi, California, Sally Sweers and husband Herman of Britt, Mary Jane Lilington of Seattle, Washington, Gloria Hooper and husband Dane of Watelou, Wisconsin and Thomas F. Nessa and wife Pat of Las Vegas, Nevada; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; three brothers: Leo, Paul, and Guy Prelip; two sisters: Frances Wilson and Nelda Prelip; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert; three brothers: Donald, Robert, Louis; three sisters: Beulah, Gloria and Marjorie.
