Obituary


Patricia M. (Denger) Muhlenbruch, 86, of Dows passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Leahy Grove Assisted Living in Hampton. Funeral services for Pat Muhlenbruch will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church, 109 North Eskridge in Dows with Pastor Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Dows.

Patricia Mae, daughter of Ralph and Rhoda (Bangs) Denger, was born on August 10, 1931 at the Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls. Pat grew up in rural Dows and graduated from Dows High School in 1949.

On November 5, 1950 Pat was united in marriage to Willis Muhlenbruch at the First Presbyterian Church in Dows. In 1951, Willis served in the Korean War. When he returned, the couple farmed in Wright, Hancock, Emmet, and Franklin counties. The couple was blessed with four children: Pam, Mark, Marsha, and Christa.

Pat enjoyed quilting and sewing every Thursday morning with her sewing group, the Sewing Angels. She loved to watch the birds and work in her garden. Pat was involved with 4-H, Kensington Club, Farm Bureau Women, Franklin County Porkettes, and the Dows Legion Auxiliary. Pat was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian church and was currently serving as the secretary.

Pat is survived by her four children Pam (Mark) Odland, Mark Muhlenbruch (special friend Neala Fish), Marsha (Ed) Finch, Christa (Jeff) Wiarda; grandchildren Wesley Odland, Morgan (Kyle) Wadsworth, Keslie Muhlenbruch (special friend Matt Deaton), Fonda (Ryan) Manahl, Vernon Crouch, Tony (Tasha) Finch, Edward Finch, April (Ryan) Pothast, Jessica (Jesse) Wegner, Jennifer (Rick) DeVore, Jeremy Arends (Mackenzie Goossen); great- grandchildren Hailey, Hannah, Scarlet, Cason, Ava, Tate, Alice, Ella, Olivia, soon-to-be Baby Pothast and Baby Manahl; sister-in-law Wyona Denger; and many nieces and nephews;

She is preceded in death by her husband Willis; parents Ralph and Rhoda; two brothers Forest and Faye Denger; sister-in-law Marcella Denger; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beverly and Bob Dishman.
