Obituary

Paul A. Olson, 73, of Woolstock, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life for Paul Olson will be held at a later date.

Paul was the son of Clarence and Audrey (Lindstrom) Olson, was born January 16, 1947 in Hampton, Iowa.

Paul attended the Belmond School until 8th grade when the family moved to Clarion, Iowa.  He graduated from Clarion High School in 1965.

Paul enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1966 and was honorably discharged in May of 1969. He served as a mechanic and was stationed in Germany and France.

After the service, Paul moved back to Clarion where he worked at Winnebago Industries, and as a hired hand for Harlan Askelsen. After moving to Webster City, he worked briefly for Modern Farm Systems, and then retired from Electrolux after 26 years.  It was in Webster City, where Paul met Charlene McConnell.  The couple was married in July of 1977 and raised four children and later divorced.

In his free time, Paul enjoyed playing golf, and he never had idle hands, keeping busy farming with Doug Frohling and tinkering with car motors.  His children and two granddaughters were a joy for him.

Paul was a quiet man and his kindness shown through in his willingness to help anyone.

Paul is survived by his four children, Chandra Jones of Norfolk, Virginia, Nicholas (Ashley) Olson and their daughters Reese and Sadie of South Lyon, Michigan, Shauna Olson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Brigette Olson of Castleton, Vermont; sisters Janet (Roger) Severson of Ankeny and Jannel (Russ) Stark of Clarion along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Phil Olson.
