Belmond
Paul Eekhoff, 65, of Belmond, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond.
Paul Herman Eekhoff, the only son of Herman and Elsie (Swyter) Eekhoff, was born on January 24, 1961, in Belmond, Iowa. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Kanawha High School.
After high school, Paul worked in the parts departments at various local car dealerships. Before retiring due to health issues, he worked at Hagie Manufacturing in Clarion.
Paul enjoyed keeping busy and working with his hands. He had a knack for working on computers and could often be found tinkering with one of his projects. He also enjoyed creating and tending to his miniature gardens, taking pride in the time and care he put into them.
Paul loved grilling and baking, and one of the best parts was sharing the results with others. He enjoyed listening to The Beatles and spending time with his dogs, who were an important part of his life.
Northern Minnesota held a special place in Paul’s heart. He loved the area and its peaceful surroundings, and his wishes are for his ashes to be scattered there.
He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Travis) Hunsaker; grandchildren Mya and Wesley; sisters Carol (Robert) Everett of Omaha, Nebraska, Donna (Jon) Eggum of Clark’s Grove, Minnesota, Janet (Oley) Olsen of Mason City, Linda (Rich) Foss, Winona, Minnesota and Sue Schlosser of Mason City; good friends Wendy Dietz of Brainerd, Minnesota and Marv Goemaat of Belmond; ten nieces and nephews along with many great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, sister Mary Ann Karsjens and brothers-in-law Stephen Schlosser and Bud Karsjens.
