Paul A. Olson, 73, of Woolstock, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at
the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life for Paul Olson will be held at a later date.
Paul was the son of Clarence and Audrey (Lindstrom) Olson, was born January 16,
1947 in Hampton, Iowa.
Paul attended the Belmond School until 8th grade when the family moved to
Clarion, Iowa. He graduated from Clarion High School in 1965.
Paul enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1966 and was honorably
discharged in May of 1969. He served as a mechanic and was stationed in Germany
and France.
After the service, Paul moved back to Clarion where he worked at Winnebago
Industries, and as a hired hand for Harlan Askelsen. After moving to Webster
City, he worked briefly for Modern Farm Systems, and then retired from
Electrolux after 26 years. It was in Webster City, where Paul met Charlene
McConnell. The couple was married in July of 1977 and raised four children and
later divorced.
In his free time, Paul enjoyed playing golf, and he never had idle hands,
keeping busy farming with Doug Frohling and tinkering with car motors. His
children and two granddaughters were a joy for him.
Paul was a quiet man and his kindness shown through in his willingness to help
anyone.
Paul is survived by his four children, Chandra Jones of Norfolk, Virginia,
Nicholas (Ashley) Olson and their daughters Reese and Sadie of South Lyon,
Michigan, Shauna Olson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Brigette Olson of
Castleton, Vermont; sisters Janet (Roger) Severson of Ankeny and Jannel (Russ)
Stark of Clarion along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Phil Olson.
