Paul Randall Wolford, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 1992, at the Hancock
County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa.
Paul, the son of Charles and Mary (Trimble) Wolford, was born December 31, 1906
at Harrisonville, Missouri. He moved with his parents at an early age and
graduated from Garner High School. Mr. Wolford established the Britt Hatchery
and was united in marriage to Virginia Minor in November of 1942 at Waukegan,
Illinois. The couple made their home in Britt. Paul served with the United
States Navy during World War II and following his discharge he returned to his
hatchery business. In 1968 he was appointed as manager of the State Liquor
store in Britt and held that that position until 1974. He continued working
part time until retiring in 1980.
He was member of the Britt Congregational United Church of Christ, the Masonic
Lodge, the Rotary Club and the Britt American Legion.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia who passed away on
October 25, 1985 and a brother.
Survivors include two sons: Bill of Madison, Wisconsin and Bob and his wife
Darla of Longview, Washington; six grandchildren: Allison, Ben, Andrew, Paul,
Philip, and Jacob; a brother Lester of Williams, Iowa; three sisters: Margaret
Cushman of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Violet Harris and Charlotte Coleman both of Rio
Rancho, New Mexico.
