Obituary

Peggy Lackore, 73, of Clarion passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond.

Memorial services for Peggy Lackore will be held at 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Ewing Funeral Home, 1801 Central Avenue East in Clarion, with Pastor Bill Kem officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.

Peggy Sue (Strain) Lackore was born August 30, 1943 to Allen and Phyllis (McCormick) Strain. She was raised in the Eagle Grove area, graduating from Eagle Grove High School with the Class of 1961.

Peggy was united in marriage with Charles Lackore at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove on June 3, 1961. The couple made Eagle Grove their home until 1992, when they moved to Chicago and later to St. Louis, prior to retiring to Clarion in 2000.

Peggy ran a daycare service out of her home for more than a decade. She later worked as the school secretary at Vincent Elementary School before working as a medical secretary for Dr. George Hogenson in Eagle Grove for several years.

Peggy was a faithful Christian, and was previously active at the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church as a member of the choir, ladies circle and as a Sunday school teacher. She took great pride in the fact that her strong faith was passed down to each of her children, and that all of her grandchildren were raised in Christian homes.

Peggy was very creative; she enjoyed all sorts of crafting projects, including quilting, cross-stitching and flower pressing. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed baking Christmas goodies to share with family and friends.

Peggy will be remembered for her strength and faith, especially in hard times. She was always an encouraging, supportive and loving mother and grandmother.

Peggy is survived by her children, Kristal (Gary) Anderson of Clarion, Ed (Diane) Lackore of Polk City and Pam (Kent) Harklau of Clarion; her grandchildren Jenna Anderson (Michael Boothby), Jillian (David) Flurer, Jacey Anderson (Reed Lette), Luke Maxheimer, Jonathan Lackore, Jared Lackore, Noah Maxheimer, Erik Lackore and Brenna Harklau; her sisters Sandi (John) Baldus of Alleman, Iowa and Kay (Joe) Chamberlin of Eagle Grove; sister-in-law Charlene Strain of Mason City; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Phyllis Strain, her husband Chuck in 2007, and her brothers Larry Strain and Scott Strain.
