Phyllis A. (Braner) Cullinan, 90, of Belmond, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date. Phyllis Aileen (Braner) Cullinan, the daughter of Wessel and Magdalene (Mennenga) Braner, was born on the family farm east of Belmond on May 20, 1930.  She attended country school before graduating from the Belmond High School with the class of 1948. Phyllis married the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Cullinan, May 20, 1950, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and were nearly inseparable for 67 years.  They settled in rural Belmond and were blessed with six children, Robert Jr., Jim, Mark, Denise, Debra and David. Raising and taking care of her children was Phyllis's true passion.  She kept her large family organized and was always on the go whether it was helping on the family farm or getting ready for horse shows. She was later employed as a secretary for Central Soya in Belmond. Phyllis enjoyed life on the farm.  She had a large vegetable garden and many flowers. She cherished the time she got to spend with her grandchildren during the summer there.  She was also a great cook and was especially known for her chocolate doughnuts and cinnamon rolls. Family was the most important to Phyllis and she loved her family whole heartedly.  She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Phyllis is survived by her son Robert (Cathy) Cullinan, Jr. of Belmond, Iowa and their children Darren (Stephanie), St. Louis, Missouri, Shelley (Nick) Bartz and their daughters Emme and Eden, Johnston, Iowa, and Molly (Brandon) Potter, Tiffin, Iowa; son Mark Cullinan of Belmond, Iowa; daughter Denise (Jerry) Marifke of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter Debra (Duane) Willhite of Denver, Iowa and their children Collin (Ashley) Willhite and their sons Rilen and Cal, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Evan Willhite, Marion, Iowa; and son David (Susan) Cullinan and their children Zane, Macyn and Nash all of Fall Creek, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law Erma Cullinan of Clarion, Iowa and Crystal Braner of Belmond, Iowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert "Bob" Cullinan, son Jim Cullinan, grandson Travis Cullinan, brother Alvin Braner, sister and brother-in-law Velma (Dale) Hauge.
