Phyllis M. Omvig, 69, passed away, Sunday, March 6, 1994, at the her home in Kanawha, Iowa. Phyllis, the daughter of William and Jessie (Duncan) Norby, was born October 10, 1924 at home, east of Kanawha.  She attended and graduated from Belmond schools in 1942.  She taught school for two years, and also worked in the bank in Kanawha. She was united in marriage to John Omvig on March 8, 1947 at Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The couple made their home near Kanahwa where they farmed. She was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church, and the KLCW.  Phyllis enjoyed making scrapbooks and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, John, Kanawha, Iowa; three daughters: Mary Jo and her husband, Larry Bell and their children, Justin, Benjamin, Jennifer, Marion, Ohio; Maryls and her husband, Marvin Johnson, and their children, Dallas, Brittney, Kanawha, Iowa; Sharon and her husband, Robert Grimm, and their children, Tyler, Trevor, Kanawha, Iowa; two sons: Roger and his wife, Diane Omvig, and their children, Daphne and her husband, Jay Pogge, and their children, Ashley, Lindsey, Michael Omvig; Dean and his fiance, Mary Ann Browning, Valencia, California; and a sister, Florence Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
