Randy Fangman, 61, of Britt passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Hancock
County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:30
AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 139 3rd Street South East in Britt with
Father Jim Dubert officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery
at a later date.
A Scriptural Wake Service and Rosary will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday,
September 26, 2018 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, with visitation
following until 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at
the church on Thursday.
Randall George Fangman, son of John and Rosalyn (Arndorfer) Fangman, was born
June 21, 1957 in Britt. He attended school in Britt, where he was a member of
the 1973 State Championship Eagle Football Team, the 1975 North Iowa Conference
Wresting Team Champions, and the 1975 Wrestling Conference Champion in the 138
lb. weight class. He also participated in track and was a member of the golf
team. Randy graduated with the Britt High School Class of 1975.
Following high school, Randy attended Mankato State for one year, and in 1982
earned Associate of Arts degrees from NIACC, as well as a degree in Mechanical
Design. Four years later, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary
Education from Buena Vista University.
Randy worked at the Britt Implement Company, Kiefer Built, and held various
independent drafting jobs. He worked at Iowa Mold Tooling for ten years as a
drafter and designer, and most recently by Winnebago Industries, where he worked
for twenty years until 2017.
Randy was very involved in his community, and served in a variety of groups
including the Britt Jaycees, where he served as president and also named Region
President of the Year. His civic service also included being a school board
member for eight years, member of H.A.W.K (Hawkeye Area Wrestling Klub), and a
member of the Hancock County Economic Development Group.
Faith was a very important part of Randy's life. He was a member of St.
Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt, where he taught religious education classes.
He also joined the Knights of Columbus in 1988; he was a 4th Degree Knight, he
was elected Grand Knight in 1999 and earned the Star Council Award.
Despite being involved in a motorcycle accident in June of 1977 which left him
paralyzed, Randy lived a full and impactful life. He will be remembered for his
faith, his positive attitude, and his involvement in his community. He was an
inspiration to many.
Randy is survived by his parents John and Rosalyn Fangman of Britt; siblings
Cyndy (Jim) Powers of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Rick Fangman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa;
Kelly (Randy) Wunsch of Garner, Iowa, and Joney (John) Coldagelli of New Prague,
Minnesota; nieces and nephews Julie Shaffer, Molly Aranda, Megan Jilg, Matthew
Wunsch, Alexandra Fangman, Madeline Taylor, Michael Coldagelli, and Chloe
Coldagelli, along with many other extended family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hancock County
Memorial Hospital or West Hancock High School and sent to the attention of his
