Obituary
Raymond Deimerly, age 94, of Clarion, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 27, 2007 at his home in rural Clarion, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2007 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion, with Fr. Chris Podhasjky officiating. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Clarion.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, Clarion, Iowa, 50525, with a vigil service at 7, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Raymond Mathias Deimerly, oldest son of Sebastian and Anna (O’Neill) Deimerly, was born in Wall Lake Township, Wright County on March 5, 1913. He died at his home in Wall Lake Township on August 27, 2007, at the age of 94 years.
When Raymond was five years hold, he moved with his family to the long-time farm in Dayton Township. He completed his formal education through the 8th grade at the Dayton # 6 school. Raymond continued to help with the family farming operation until 1936 when he began his own farming career.
On June 17, 1940, Raymond and Margaret Stackland were united in marriage at St. John’s Parish in Clarion. In 1944 they moved to their farm in Wall Lake Township. During their 67 years of marriage Raymond and Margaret raised 5 children and continued to expand their farming operation.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarie, John, and James, sister Theresa Mraz, and daughter Rosemary. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Clarion; daughters Suzanne Diemerly of Clarion, Trish (Kent) Perry of Ankeny, and Joan (Dennis) Dougherty of Belmond, and son Robert (Kathy) Deimerly of Clarion; grandchildren Mark (Tammy) Dougherty of Cedar Rapids, Phil (Christine) Dougherty of Cedar Rapids, Erin (Michael) Perry of Des Moines, Erica (Ben) Lindaman of Clarion, Brad (Amanda) Dougherty of Belmond, Blaire Deimerly of Dallas, Texas, and Eric (Jayme) Dougherty of Belmond; and great-grandchildren Cole and Bryce Lindaman and Maddison, Charlie, Jake, Emilie, Clarie Elizabeth, and Braden Dougherty.
Raymond’s long farming career extended nearly 70 years. He will be remembered for his humor, unwaving values, memory of family and local history, and love for his family and the land.
