Raymond L. Beyer

Raymond L. Beyer, 89, of Belmond, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Private family funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Ewing Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond, with Pastor Nancy Hofmeister officiating. The public can view the service live on the Ewing Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Rowan. Raymond Loren Beyer, the eldest son of Arthur and Mary (Raymond) Beyer, was born in Clear Lake, Iowa on October 21, 1931. Ray grew up on the family farm outside of Hanlontown and graduated from Hanlontown High School in 1949. After high school, Ray drove a grocery truck before he enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served on the U.S.S. Bennington and U.S.S. Hornet before being honorably discharged. Upon his return to the family farm, he met the love of his life, Lois Aldrich. The couple was united in marriage on January 16 1956, at Rowan Methodist Church. They had 64 loving years of marriage. Ray continued his education at the Hamilton Business College obtaining his accounting degree. He worked for ACCO Seed in Belmond until the company transferred him to Taylor, Texas where the family resided for 20 years. They moved back to the Aldrich Family Farm outside of Belmond when he retired in 1998. Ray enjoyed his large gardens through the years and was known for his ability to fix any problem. He was an avid reader, liked to play golf, and was a member of the Rowan Lion’s Club and the United Church of Rowan. Family always came first and Raymond was very involved with his children’s activities. He loved taking them on camping trips across the country especially to the National Parks. He led his family by example with an emphasis on honor. Raymond is survived by his wife Lois Beyer of Belmond; children Michael (Narela) Beyer of Carrolltown, Texas and their children Allen, Arthur and Mina; Nancy Beyer of Jefferson City, Missouri; Mary (Eric) Bisinger of Central City, Iowa and their children Steffanie and Zackary; David (Jane) Beyer of Van Vleck, Texas; brother Roger “Skip” Beyer; brother-in-law Don Aldrich; sister-in-law Wilma Aldrich along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean Carman, brother-in-law Everett Carman, sister-in-law Nina Beyer, brother-in-law Larry Aldrich and sister-in-law Kay Aldrich. The family asks that rather than sending flowers, donations be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research or the Belmond Rehabilitation Center.
